Major Initiatives

The Company continues to promote "positive discrimination" in its recruitment process by giving preference to SC/ST candidates where their performances are found at par with others in the selection process. Besides, for campus recruitment, relaxation were given in the minimum qualifying marks for the SC/ST candidates, thereby providing them an opportunity to appear at the selection process. Principle of "Positive Discrimination" is followed both in freshers as well as lateral recruitments in officers and workmen cadre.

Contractors are encouraged to employ more SC/ST employees who are suitable for the jobs. Similarly, in all our associated institutions, engagement of SC/ST persons are encouraged.

The establishment of RSETI (Rural Self Employment Training Institute ) is an unique step taken towards promoting employability of unemployed youth through various skill development programmes. The settlement rates of SC/ST passed out trainees are more than 90%.

Through Apprenticeship and training, we provide opportunity to SC/ST candidates to gain hands on work experience which help them in building their career.

The RSETI will go a long way in promoting and developing future entrepreneurs. After taking training from the institute, many SC/ST candidates started their own ventures. Besides, a number of SC/ST girls were trained on vocational trade like sewing in order to encourage them for earning their own livelihood. TRL Krosaki also encourages contractors from SC/ST community in its supply chain.

Every year eligible SC/ST students are given the merit-cum-means scholarship for school education. Besides, SC/ST students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, studying in the company's Belpahar Refractories High School, Belpahar, are fully exempted from paying their tuition fees. Through its "Ekalavya" scheme, the company has helped the poor but meritorious SC/ST students from the rural background to pursue their studies in B R High School and the entire expenditure is borne by the company.
